I think it is extremely unlikely that you acquired a new strain of HSV 2. And herpes would not be occurring daily for an extended period of time, especially while on meds.
I would say that you don’t know it is on your face – you’ve had no lesions there or blisters, correct? If you have lesions that are concerning to you, you should have them swab tested right away.
Something that goes on forever is NOT HSV.
Again, if you have a concerning lesion, have it swab tested.
