A sunburn has nothing to do with herpes – I think there is some confusion there.
Was there some sort of sexual contact around the time you got the very painful sores in the genital area? Both HSV 1 and HSV 2 can cause genital sores, so with your high HSV 1, the sores could certainly have been HSV 1. That is usually acquired from receiving oral sex. The Valtrex you’ve taken would not impact your antibody testing as it was taken for a longer duration far from your first symptoms.
Have you ever in your life had cold sores on your lips? If yes, they could account for the high HSV 1 result.
Herpes also does not cause any skin color changes such as those that you describe.
