Do you know the HSV 1 and 2 status of your current partner?
This could be due to herpes,yes. I think testing is possible, but we are really concerned about false positives on the IgG test (never do IgM testing). If you do test, and your value is under 8, you will need confirmatory testing, in my opinion. There is no way to know if your HSV 1 infection is oral or genital without a lesion in either location to swab test.
