Reply To: False HSV 1/2 IGM

Can you share any insight as to why or what can cause False IGM 1/2 Positives or share any scientific journal articles? I would greatly appreciate that.

For years I’ve always come up negative when I got tested for HSV 1/2 IGM & IGG so I was surprised this time around I was IGM 1.11. But I was also sick with PCR positive results for Rhinovirus/enterovirus the same day I got blood drawn for HSV testing.

I was negative before I was with the guy and I wasn’t with anyone for a year prior to him. And after 9 weeks from our last sexual encounter he got tested and he was HSV IGG 1 & 2 negative.
I would like to learn more about the science aspect of false HSV IGM but it’s hard to find any information and I used to work in microbiology!
