Given the severity of my initial outbreak/positive reaction to antibiotics I still think there could be a bacterial infection in the mix on my nose along with the HSV2. Her specialty is also HSV2 so hoping to discuss some of the concerns I’ve raised here because I’m very cautious and a little obsessive with health stuff. I do want to add healthwise everything else came back great and no conditions that predispose me to a compromised immune state. I also want to talk about if there is a way to establish I don’t have genital HSV2 which is also the final follow up Q I had for you.
Question: It’s been 14 months and no signs at all genitally (no spots, itching, redness, or any form of prodrome) and I have checked out of an abundance of caution many times. All recurrences the first major, this less severe, and 1 very minor (red skin on nose no crusting) have been on my nose and very localized. I should add since I had mono the first time – my immune system was completely wiped and I didn’t get sores or anything genitally then either.
Is it likely to be localized to the oral area and is there any method for testing this? Obviously my nose sample came from an active lesion but that has never (and I hope never does) occur genitally is there any way to confirm the location or is the continued absence of symptoms in that location sufficient?
