If your symptoms are from herpes, then you will continue to make antibody for the rest of your life. If this was herpes, antiviral therapy would likely help, yes, but it would also influence your test results AT THIS POINT in the process. I do not think you have acquired herpes at this encounter, no, but as you said, you really have no idea if you were positive for HSV 1 at the outset or not and I am worried if the western blot is positive for HSV 1 that you will decide that HSV 1 is causing all these symptoms and that you acquired it at that encounter, which I might find erroneous.
