Hi Terri and yes I am on suppressive therapy I take acycloriv. The skin was in tact and a slightly pinkish from the healing and that’s what was concerning me. Bc it seemed healed, but I was still worried about the way it looked and if that was normal or still considered an out break.
I should’ve clarified that my reoccurrence was April 10th and lasted aproximatley till April 23rd which by then had already healed and left me with the scaring and new pink skin that still hasn’t completly regained my usual skin tone. It’s been about 10 days since I determined that my outbreak was competent healed and the new skin left from the scarring would regain its original pigment within time, but in doing so I’m still worried about the possibility of transmission bc of the scarring and new formed skin.
Thanks for the reply Terri I just purchased two additional follow up questions. So roughly chances are pretty low given the fact that I watch for any symptoms and continue with suppressive therapy. I’ve been reading up on the best antivirals to help reduce shedding and everything I find always points back to Valtrex or the generic version Valacyclovir which I would most likely get givin the generic cost. Since the bioavailability is more in Valcyclovir around 55% and Acyclovir bioavailability being only around 15-20% would you assume that Valacyclovir is the better option with suppressive therapy being that the body would absorb more of the medicine to combat the replication of HSV-2 or do these numbers not matter when it comes to the medicine doing its job?
Hi Terri thanks for replying, I’m currently on 800mg twice daily. I did try 400mg twice daily, but would get an outbreak still and then went back to my regular dose of 800mg twice daily and haven’t seem to of had any problems with that since. I have been considering switching to generic Valtrex as it would be more convient with just once daily.
Thanks for the reply Terri and yes she is aware of my Herpes she was there for me when I first found out and we have continued with our relationship since then and that is why I do my best to protect her with suppression therapy and our regular condom use. She was tested with her annual pap and everything was negative from what she was told. Other than that she had never had any symptoms or informed me of anything irregular genital wise.
