Hello Terri,
The first time intercourse ever was protected and was a few days before the unprotected experience.
Would you have any general idea of what triggers a false positive?
Thank you.
D452SpectatorLet me be clear, I have had unprotected intercourse only twice; one week before my blood draw on 2/11. Before then, I had only received oral sex a total of three times. That was my first experience. All of this has been since 2020.
Thank you.
D452SpectatorThank you for responding so quickly to me! I have never been tested for HSV-2 previously because I never had a reason to. I had only received oral sex from two partners a year before and that is it. No symptoms. Those encounters only total 3 times.
If this is a true positive, I have absolutely no idea how I could have acquired this. How likely is it that someone who has an index above 3.0 but below 3.5 has a positive value? (are there any statistics available.?) Final question, how long does it take for IgG antibodies to form?
Again thank you so much for your help. You have been very informative.
D452SpectatorHello Terri,
I apologize for the bump. The last time I had intercourse was two weeks ago. It was a week before my blood was drawn for the test.
I have only had unprotected sex twice ever and both happened a within a week of each other. The last time I had intercourse was a week before my blood was drawn.
How long does it take for IgG Antibodies to form and enter circulation? Is two weeks enough time to generate IgG Antibodies?
Finally, can you get hsv2 from receiving oral sex solely?
I never tested for COVID but sometime last year I did have flu like symptoms and was curious of these things were related given SARS-Cov-2 is also a viral infection that uses IgG Antibodies for testing.
Thank you for your time and patience.
