So, I mentioned to my doctor what you said in the previous comment, and she was receptive and sent me for an MRI! I just received the results which show I have a small brain lesion and “chronic insult” likely from inflammation, infection, or demyelination. So, a lumbar puncture or follow up MRI is recommended based on my clinical symptoms. So, there is something! Do you think when I get in to see a neurologist with these MRI results, I should still just lead with my symptoms and not mention EBV and HSV from the start? Do you know if it is common practice for neurologists to check for infections, or won’t that matter once they do the spinal tap? By the way, my neurological symptoms flared extremely this past week and I ended up having an outbreak. It’s still hard for me NOT to assume that GHSV is responsible for these symptoms because they always go together 🙁 Do you know if it is something like MS, can flares aggravate herpes outbreaks?June 1, 2021 at 11:30 am in reply to: 18 years with HSV2 pushing docs for help, now what? #73792LedespencerParticipant
Hi Terri, thanks for your reply. So, the last Nurse Practitioner I was seeing did refer me to a ID specialist. They told me they don’t consider HSV an infectious disease but a dermatological or gynecological one! I said “you’ve got to be kidding me,” and got discouraged. That is why I am trying the immunologist next. I will ask them about what you mentioned regarding resistance testing. I wasn’t aware of that. No I have no tried famciclovir. That’s next. However, I have a slew of other symptoms mostly the debilitating nerve pain (legs, but, groin, knees, feet) and sometimes headaches, back and breast pain. Every doctor I have had says HSV2 does not cause that type of pain, but lots of papers online mention that HSV2 and EBV are capable of damaging neurological conditions. What is your opinion?
I am hoping someone will test me for fibromyalgia, MS, and any other immune/autoimmune conditions. I have blurred and double vision sometime, internal tremors, muscle spasms and cramps, muscle paralysis, numbness and tingling (all which I thought were pre-diabetic symptoms) but doctor says no. It just seems that when I tell medical practitioners that I am suffering from chronic GHSV, they discount my other symptoms and try to get me out the door? Do you think that HSV alone can cause all these other symptoms? Or EBv + HSV2 combo? I just want to get an idea of what testing I should push for or not push for. Thank you.
