Hi Terry, I am struggling to get my OB Dr to sign off on the WB paperwork and you are booked for a consultation weeks out. I’m concerned about my hsv 2 being a false positive since I’ve never had any symptoms and been with the same person for several years. I’ve read that a high positive hsv 1 test and cross with the hsv 2. My 1st test showed hsv 1 was 27 and hsv 2 was 4.89. Would I benefit from the WB test? My immunoblot (2nd test) test was negative but still showed positive for antibody as of both H1 and H2 but have read that other test can be unreliable as well. I would greatly appreciate any info you may provide.
Hi Terry, sorry to be a pest but wanted to make sure you saw my post. Thx
Is it safe to assume that I do NOT have heroes if the immunoblot test was negative but still shows antibodies?
Let me rephrase that, I’ve had hsv1 since childhood but nothing else. The immunoblot test was normal but showed both hsv 1 and 2 positive antibodies. I’m confused on whether I actually have hsv 2 or not.
Just to clarify, I’ve never had any outbreaks nor symptoms and I just got tested to be safe.
