Hi Terri,
Just one quick follow up. I did get tested again and was negative for both HSV1 and 2. So that’s now twice post 12 weeks, and another one negative at ~7 weeks. When you say the HSV2 test misses 8% of infections and the HSV1 misses 30%, do you mean that in the sense of if you took the HSV1 test 10 times separately and were infected, it would only pick up 7, or it misses 30% of individuals who are infected?
New0123SpectatorThank you. So do you think doing the Western Blot is worth it to test for HSV1? I’ll be honest I’m not in a great position to pay for it, but if it needs to be done, I will. Or, should I just move on from this being HSV related?
New0123SpectatorHi Terri,
I just wanted to follow up on this. As of now, I am still having issues. Predominantly, I am having twitching/spasms throughout my legs fairly often. Also, I am having some sort of tingling/irritation/itchiness in my urethra/urethra opening that will last for 2-3 days then go away for 3-5 days. Typically starts as a burning/irritation, which turns into a sort of itchy sensation on the 3rd day. Some itchiness in anus area as well with this. No burning during urination at all, ever. Possible groin soreness, but I cannot tell if I strained it or if I’ve convinced myself it’s related to this.
I have gone to so many doctors and no one knows what’s going on. No sores that I have seen.
As a reminder, I got tested around 8 weeks; negative IGG for HSV1&2. Tested around 12-13 weeks; negative IGG for HSV1&2. My girlfriend also tested at least 3 months after prior sexual encounter; negative for HSV2 (did not test for HSV1 unfortunately).
My doctor put me on doxycycline for 7 days, and I am on my 2nd day of taking it so far. Unsure if it’s helping or not.
My questions are:
1) Do these still not sound herpetic? I have read of others having twitching/spasms.
2) I feel fairly confident that I am negative for HSV2 given her and I both tested negative 12+ weeks post encounter. I have seen you say GHSV1 genital to genital is quite rare, so I guess that gives me hope, but what are your thoughts? Should I bother getting tested again? 8% x 8% false negative for HSV2 are pretty good odds in my opinion, but not sure if maybe I have GHSV1.
3) If this does not at all sound herpetic, do you have any other thoughts as to what might be going on/what I should do?
New0123SpectatorThank you. She also just tested negative for HSV 2 using the IGG test, and she would be more than 3 months out from possible infection. I think I am probably ok to say this result is fine?
New0123SpectatorNow the tingling has sort of gotten a bit worse, although I don’t notice much pain on my penis at all now. Feels like my ankle is on fire almost. Feeling some slight tingling in area between legs every now and then, but still mostly concentrated in arms and lower legs.
