So in the big picture of things why is it that the virus does not transmit through casual contact, things , clothing, etc and should not be a concern other than direct (sexual) contact with a infected area?
YES. Thanks. I had described in the earlier post about the bottom of my shirt sometimes coming into contact w/ my genitals when using the bathroom. Why doesn’t this seem to be a issue as far as spreading the virus around?May 14, 2018 at 7:43 pm in reply to: Asymptomatic and General Transmission Questions Cotinued #24518
9).Can HSV2 spread socially (non-sexual)? I like to dance socially with partners. Should I have any concerns about virus transmission?
Thank you for taking my questions. I hope you can help me get a handle on things. I know it was kind of long but it was nice to get it out of my head and put it in to print. I never used to be concerned about hardly any of this stuff in the past and I think a lot of what I am experiencing/doing is unnecessary Also it is very exhausting to try and police everything you touch.

6). How easily does HSV2 spread? I sometimes feel like I am smearing the virus all over the place. Can you really smear the virus all over the place?? Or is it like one virus here and one virus there? Do I need to worry about it spreading all over my house and infecting someone? Should I be disinfecting/cleaning everything?
7). Where exactly does the virus shed? I have read that the virus sheds in the genital area but I am unclear exactly what that means. What does that include?
8).Does the virus shed in the waist area? Right where the waist line of the pants sit, the belt goes around and the area where the bottom of my t-shirt hangs. I am concerned that the bottom of my t-shirt will pick up the virus so I do not want to change my shirt with out showering. Also I wear a phone holster on my belt and I am concerned that the back of my phone holster (the clip) would pick up the virus or that I may pick up the virus putting on or taking off the holster and spread the virus around. Also I am leary just to grab my waist band and pull up my pants for fear of picking up the virus and spreading it around.May 14, 2018 at 7:33 pm in reply to: Asymptomatic and General Transmission Questions Cotinued #24516
5). When I shower I think I am washing too long and I wash my hands after washing my genital area before washing or touching anything else then I wash the faucet handle and only touch the shower curtain in certain clean places. When drying off I try not to touch the shower curtain and do not let the towel touch my genital area till last. If I touch the genital area with the towel before I am done I get a clean towel. Is any of this necessary? Why or why not? Can I go back to just taking a shower?
–After you wipe your genitals with a towel. Can you use it on other parts of your body? Will you wipe virus on other parts of your body and then spread it around to other things or people?
–When is it safe to reuse the towel for another shower?
