Can you please address my questions in my last post?
Since my HSV2 IGG test came back negative at about 2 weeks and this was my only “exposure” in the last 3+ months, am I herpes free? Want to make sure I’m doing the moral thing (re: talking about it or not in addition to wearing condoms) with future partners.

To answer your question, yes, her test was HSV2 IGG @3.6
I’m just still concerned because your first response said “(and it could be [herpes])” based on how I was describing the sore.
1) How many seconds does herpes need to be exposed to air to die? Can’t it still live by going from her hand to her mouth to my penis in a short time?
2) I’ve read in your past posts that you’ve said it’s unlikely that herpes appears as one sore, in a primary outbreak, just on the scrotum. Is that the main reason why you think I’m not at risk for infection?
3) Does the behavior of the sore make you think this IS herpes? (Although it just went from red mark to scab, no itchy or puss phase)
4) What percentage of HSV2 IGG tests at 12 days are false negatives? I’ve been told by several medical professionals to now let sleeping dogs lie and that I’m in the clear
While I’ve now managed to convince myself I think this was either pseudomonas folliculitis (‘hot tub rash’) or some very minor staph infection (although still strange that there was just ONE sore), I would still like to hear your thoughts. It’s now just a reddish blemish and when you stretch it tight it turns white. Although there isn’t a hair around coming out of it so not folliculitis? Maybe oil glad infection?
Thank you.July 16, 2021 at 12:19 pm in reply to: Very Aware of Herpes; So Confused About What This Is #74263
Thanks for your response. So my HSV2 blood test just came back today: NEGATIVE.
This was the first new partner I’ve been with in 12 weeks. (IE have been with the same girl for the last three months, we broke up, and the girl mentioned in the previous posts from 7/1 was the first encounter I’ve had). She came back positive again today.
If I were to get another test in 12 weeks, do you think I’m definitely herpes free then with NO chance of testing positive from the 7/1 girl due to the nature of the encounter?
Like you said, you think the encounter was very safe and have no worries about the situation at all. But just to reiterate, the blood test I got was about 12 DAYS after the risky encounter, she was positive, and she did touch her vagina (positive with HSV2) then touched my penis.
I know I’ve asked this question twice, but just looking for reassurance. I hope I don’t have to worry for the next 4, 6, 12 weeks about getting re-tested / then testing positive!
Thank you so very muchJuly 15, 2021 at 9:43 pm in reply to: Very Aware of Herpes; So Confused About What This Is #74250
Terri* (very sorry)
Update / (cont’d):
She tested positive for HSV2. My lesion / ulcer has basically gone away…so about 72 hours after noticing the red discoloration –then–> oval ulcer looking thing –then–> scab looking thing (see above descriptions) –then–> basically nothing (now just a slightly reddish / mostly skin colored remnant barely signaling where this initial blemish once was). I was primarily wearing loose clothing, applying neosporin and bandaids every so often, washing my body, and repeating.
Saw two doctors again today. One thought HSV (based on this story; visit was over the phone). One thought it wasn’t HSV (via skype) based on the progression of ‘improving’ photos I’ve taken since Monday that I shared with him. This zoom doctor suggested potentially folliculitis (although there wasn’t a hair popping up through this sore). Can folliculitis happen if not centered around a single hair follicle? Still no results from my blood test. Zoom doctor also said obviously there is a possibility of herpes, but in his professional opinion, didn’t think so. The scab aspect seems to be what is the most questionable.
No leg pain, headache, no burning sensation other than slight bit from neosporin, littlest/slightest amount of itching (maybe just classic genital area itch? maybe itch from neosporin? maybe itch from whatever this is clearing up / the ‘scab’ clearing up? or maybe herpes itch…doesn’t itch after i shower)
What do you think situation it is? Would really, really love to hear your take.
Sorry for all of this and thank you for reading.July 14, 2021 at 10:44 pm in reply to: Very Aware of Herpes; So Confused About What This Is #74205
I will add that on Saturday, 7/10, I spent about 12 hours straight in a wet swimsuit and was on a river-rafting trip where I got bumps, bruises, and scratches all over my body. I hadn’t noticed any genital issues from 7/1 through 7/12.
I want to reiterate that this singular lesion/ulcer is very small, painless, (again, there’s just one) and it is on the right front/bottom-ish section of my scrotum (and she did not touch my scrotum). I have zero abnormalities on my penis.
Based on this story, do you think transmission of her (likely) HSV-2 virus to me is possible / possible that I now have HSV2? Blood test coming, but would love your veteran take. The scrotal ulcer/lesion does not look like a scratch, but it does kind of look like a recovering herpes sore? but also maybe a clothing burn? Idk.
Right now, with neosporin on it, it has a white top to it; when it’s dry it looks just red-ish and when it’s dry and you spread it apart to inspect it closely you can see the outlinings of an oval-shaped, slightly light greenish/brownish scab outlined by..not a pronounced red line but a gradual redness flowing into the normal pink/red color of my scrotum. No discharge in any state. I’m really losing my mind here. Thank you.
