I agree in no more testing since it’s not going to change. For my final question, how often have you seen people with negative WB but positive HSV1?
So I did the western blot for the third time. I have been off valtrex for around five to six months. The test came back again negative for both. My belief is that I either do not have herpes or I have hsv1 given that the WB is very reliable for type 2. Hsv1 would also fit with the fact that I never have broken lesions but very sensitive or even burning skin on the scrotum and penis about twice a year. In fact, I had a recent stressful even with the death of my pet and that brought it out. I also see no point in repeating these tests. What are your thoughts on my thoughts. Thanks

Hypothetically, let’s say someone was concerned about having genital HSV 1 but every test is negative, including the WB, would you say that the probability of genital to genital transfer was so low that they should not worry about it? What would you recommend to your patients in such a situation.
